The Strokes

Hard To Explain - The Strokes
New Strokes album? Not likely in 2009 says Ryan Gentles. (NME) However, it can't hurt to start getting excited. Just a little. Perhaps start contemplating what their self-proclaimed futuristic 70's music will sound like.

Ok, no, too excited, better not think about it yet.

Matt and Kim the pop rock duo from Brooklyn were at the House of Blues on Sunday. Apparently Kim is sporting a mullet these days. If anyone could pull that off, it would be her. Read about it at The Stu Reid Experiment where you can also download a remix of their song daylight.

They released a new album in January, Grand. If you haven't heard it yet, its worth listening to.

Remember when I wrote about them before?

Oh, really?

NIN's Trent Razor say's artists often scalp their tickets. So, while you think 'god damnit it to hell', I gotta say, its pretty freakin smart. Then again, if they boost prices too high, I'm not gonna be able to afford it, and thats another empty seat... its all about the middle ground. source musictoob.

black math horsemen

Newly signed under TeePee records. If you tend to lean away from songs like 'love song' and 'bubbly' perhaps you'll like bmh. Read a review over at rcrd lbl, then listen and download a song or two.

Johnny Marr

I think I decided I was going to propose to him partway through the Modest Mouse concert that I saw, however( considering how drunk I was by that point) I should've known it wouldn't pan out. Next time.
Moving on, apparently David Starr decided to try and make The Smiths go pop. Now, I know your thinking, 'how dare they do that', but really the electro disco-ish result is kind of awesome. At least now, at dance parties you don't have to play any horrific rap. Here's the original, to hear the remix go here.

Living Like a Salamander

The Londonist recently did and interview with Will and the Boys through which I decided that I liked them.
Then again, I generally like anyone associated with RCA. They play a kind of poppy indie ska.
You can read more of the interview here.
But first you should know they have busked. I know, I know...no wait I have no idea what that means. Freaking British people can't speak proper American.
And its not half as exciting as it sounds. Say it, 'busked'. Doesn't it sound dirty?
Nope, its just 'the practice of performing in public places for tips' from wiki.
You can listen to their music at their myspace ooor if you live in the UK you can let them know that they should plan a tour that involves all venue's near me...

News

Bob Dylan's releasing a new album April 28th titled Together Through Life. Excited to hear it. Apparently a lot of the music sounds like 50's music,
'
A lot of this album feels like a Chess record from the fifties. Did you have that sound in your head going in or did it come up as you played?
Well some of the things do have that feel. It’s mostly in the way the instruments were played. '

To read more of this interview between Dylan and Bill Flanagan go here.

Andrew Bird

Heretics - Andrew Bird

A friend of mine got to see Andrew Bird play in Boston. And I sat at home green with jealousy. Of course, now that there are some new tour dates announced, I could still try and catch a show. Or die trying. Am I that desperate?
If I miss them at least I could put up some flyers...

Manchester Orchestra

When you lose a cd, or fail to use shuffle on your i-tunes, you tend to forget about certain music. Music you absolutely adore fades out of your memory. Like Manchester Orchestra. If I recall correctly, when I got their cd I can Barely Breathe I listened to it on repeat for about a month. and yet, they haven't crossed my mind in ages. Honestly, its a crime. So, while I try and find their cd, you can listen and decide that you love them too.
And then perhaps, you can explain to me why yahoo's newest update is entirely ruining my life and creating choas in my mailbox?!!

Songbird Ninja

Songbird ninja is on the loose.
I have a secret. I found out about songbird a really long time ago. And I didn't tell you. Becuase it was so mind blowing, I kind of wanted to keep it to myself.
Sorry, really I am.
Songbird is an open source music player. They partnered up with last fm and the hype machine. But whats totally awesome is that this songbird ninja is a new version of the original songbird, created by Jonathan Koshi, and the picture is from Italy!
